More Questions

Saturday, I was emailed by an agency I had spoken with in January about their Philippines program.  Kev and I adopted a child through Children's International when we were first married and watched our adopted child, Jerrick, grow up and leave the program.  So, it was one of the countries on our list, but there is a moratorium on how many younger healthy children can be adopted from the Philippines each year.  An open spot has opened with this agency for accepting an application for a healthy child under age 6.  So, right now we are asking lots of questions before we apply.  First, to make sure we are comfortable with the agency and second to see if we would make it through the application process considering that cost $200 outright.  Our main issues we are looking into right now are health related.  Although Kev and I are pretty healthy individuals.  I have epilepsy which is controlled by medication and Kev has a muscular illness in is family that is hereditary.  Kev's health thing is kind of annoying because he only has a 50% change of having the illness and usually you would see signs by his age and he has none, which is a blessing.  It's irritating because it doesn't affect his capability to be a dad or support his family and it isn't really a debilitating illness until way later in life.  Oh and heaven forbid you have ever gone to counseling for anything, specifically, anxiety because that is a strike against you.  Granted you don't want people with lots of issues taking on children that may have special needs and have the parents have special needs as well, but it's frustrating when it's just a label or a possibility way down the road and it doesn't really affect your life.  Sooo, anyway, that is where we are at.  Looking into applying if they are willing to accept our issues. :)  So that is a pretty exciting update in my book.
