ARRRRRen't you excited it's 2015?

Yes, that was an obligatory pirate reference... But, that's because the Pirate Dash 5K is FINALLY official! Yay, we are so very blessed to join forces with Clover High ROTC to raise funds for our adoption. Also, who doesn't enjoy a good reason to dress up like a pirate and run for a good cause? A HUGE thank you to Focus Physical Therapy and Fitness for being willing to open on a weekend and be the home base for this event! Also, thank you to Association Management Solutions, Inc for allowing us to run through their beautiful community here in Lake Wylie!

So, grab a friend or three and register to run in the Pirate Dash 5K together. For all of you who made a New Year's resolution to get back in shape, here's a fun opportunity to work toward your goal. If running isn't your thing, you can walk!

You can register for the 5K here on Active.com.

Speaking of New Year's resolutions, I was reading in the book of Colossians the other day and God drew my attention to this passage:

"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
- Colossians 3:15-17, ESV

Being thankful, acting on God's Word with thankfulness, or giving thanks is included in each thought or instruction Paul gives during this section. Thankfulness is to be displayed through our hearts, actions and words.

I think being thankful is one of my challenges for this year. Being thankful for each second, minute and hour I have with my wonderful husband and the two amazing girls God has blessed us with. Being thankful for the process of this adoption and all it will teach us along the way, plus the wonderful outcome providing a "forever home" for a child. Being thankful for a house, family that love each other, an amazing church and a totally gracious God who sees Jesus in me and not all my flaws.

I am not just going to be thankful, I am thankful!

We were thankful when you were born, Beautiful Daughter; when you became a Christian at five & that evidences of the God-&-Em relationship have been obvious along the way; when you & Amy survived the "Wreck of '94"; when you graduated from C-N on schedule & married our fine s-I-law in '98; when God gave y'all our two beautiful grandgirls in '07 & '10; and now we are thankfully waiting for #3 grandchild. Wow, God is good & His blessings come from He knows where in all shapes & sizes! Amen.
