Merry Christmas from The Layne Family to yours!We've been in a bit of a "holding pattern" with our adoption progress for a month or so, since we finished our home study just before Thanksgiving... Waiting on background checks can take a while when you've lived in several states!
On Christmas Eve at our annual Chinese restaurant dinner (this year at Panda Hut), I asked my girls what they wanted for Christmas. I was really surprised when Chloe said, "What I want more than presents (although I still want presents) is for all the little kids who don't have a mommy or daddy to have a mommy, daddy and a home." That's pretty impressive for a newly six-year-old in my opinion!!
I have two friends who had their newly adopted children living at home with them for their first Christmas this year. One day that will be our privilege as well!
Currently, we are waiting to receive our background check clearances back from the FBI. If it takes the full amount of time they expect (12 weeks), we anticipate receiving those in January. After that, we will be able to submit our dossier to the Bulgarian government. How exciting to be so close to becoming a "waiting family!"
If you are curious, here are some things we need right now. First, we definitely would love your prayers in being able to submit our paperwork in God's timing. I am so impatient to get things moving and I'm in a hurry to meet the child God has chosen for us!
